Negative Experience - Swing Manager Sports Generation Employee Review

Pros

The main positive I can highlight is that the Operations Manager was far more approachable and fair than the owner. Although communication was not always the most organised, they were supportive, acted as a good mentor, and were clearly very skilled at their job, particularly when it came to problem solving and handling difficult situations.

Cons

The CEO was consistently rude and arrogant, showing little respect for staff and often speaking down to employees in an insulting manner. While the advertised pay initially seemed attractive, it became clear after calculating the actual earnings that the compensation was not as fair as presented. When concerns or questions about pay were raised, management failed to provide any clear explanation. The role itself was also misleading, as the job turned out to be very different from what was originally advertised during the hiring process. Expectations set before joining did not match the reality of the position, which made the experience even more frustrating. There also appeared to be disparities in pay related to factors such as age, gender, and even where employees lived, which created an unfair working environment. The role was extremely stressful, and it was obvious that many staff members were struggling and unhappy. Despite this, there was little to no meaningful support or effort made to improve company efficiency or employee wellbeing. In my opinion, no amount of money is worth being that unhappy in a job.

Pros

The Operations Manager is a superb example of organising and running a small business effectively and efficiently. The Operations manager here works hard to ensure the smooth running of the whole business and is incredibly understanding and nurturing as a manager. A great mentor for those beginning their journey into the corporate world and a great manager who always has your back.

Cons

The CEO is a bully and has an extremely bad temper. This wouldn't be a problem if you didn't have to work closely with him. He has no appreciation for the work his staff and teachers do for the company (Underpaying teachers and staff) and usually likes to threaten to terminate employees if he doesn't get what he wants. Not a great person for employing equality and diversity either. Not a great leader with very limited business knowledge which will see the company not last very long unless attitudes change.
