DO NOT WORK HERE! (Management Scrubbing Negative Reviews) - Technician Springboard Media Employee Review

Pros

You will probably eventually get paid for the work you perform. I guess getting paid is a pro. They won't pay you legally required overtime and sometimes your paycheck won't have benefits and taxes correctly withheld. But chances are you will get paid something for the work you do.

Cons

I had a negative review that was 100% truthful up for about two years. Recently Glassdoor told me it was deleted after the employer complained (thanks for those assurances that you won't let employers do such a thing Glassdoor!) First off, Springboard Media WAS sued for failing to pay legally required overtime. This suit, in federal court, was later settled. This is a matter of public record. Look it up. Now the fact that they were sued and settled doesn't necessarily mean they accepted liability. But, this still means they WERE sued and felt compelled to settle. Make up your own mind as of the merits of the suit or better yet if you interview ask them about it. This place is horrible. The workload is unreasonable. Expect to put in an average of 50-60 hours a week. The pay is low, probably around the 25th percentile for the job title and geographic area. They will claim you are "exempt" and not entitled to overtime when you are in fact almost all computer technicians are "non-exempt" or legally entitled to overtime. If you complain about this then you are branded a "troublemaker". The office is a cheap Center City rental without functioning HVAC. It is blistering hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. Don't even expect a real office chair. They are at a premium. You will probably have to wait until someone leaves and then you can claim their old one. But don't worry turnover is so high that will probably be within your first few weeks. Management is incompetent. No one has any idea how to run an MSP. There will be about 200 tickets pending in the system at any time and instead of making sure staffing is consistent their main motivators are to yell and make you work unpaid overtime until the ticket count goes down. Just stay away from this place. Nothing good will come out of working here.

Pros

Small company. You won't get lost in a sea of employees

Cons

Owner is a bit quirky. First interview is like speed dating, You and several other candidates spend 5-10 minutes with multiple "Springboarders" who will ask you very personal, intrusive questions like "What was your largest purchase in the past year?" and "What was the scariest experience you've ever had?" None of the questions are designed to see if you are qualified for the job, but rather whether you will fit into their culture. Everyone gets asked the same questions regardless of what job they applied for.
