Pros
A significant portion of my initial professional development came from my time working with the IT department, now merged with the library and circulation team to form the ODY service desk. The interactions with both fellow student workers and professional staff members taught me much about workplace dynamics and establishing rapport with those you work with. Majority of the work was dependent upon troubleshooting problems as you face them, with professional staff encouraging us to try and figure out a solution ourselves but to remember that we have their support and that of our colleagues when needed.
Cons
There is a good amount of physical labor and more repetitive tasks to do over the summer period as systems get upgraded; it is doable, but it can get tiring.
