Pros

* There's still amazing people there. If you are lucky, you will have the opportunity to learn a lot and do interesting things * It does looks good on your resume

Cons

* You are at the mercy of your luck. If you land on a bad team or with a bad manager you will hate your job * The company says they care a lot about diversity, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, it ends there without any real effort to improve it. It's actually getting much worse * HR says they care about people. Once again, it's just empty words * Company says they care about the communities. Once again, it's just empty words. * There's not much support for junior devs * People in different orgs have *very* different experiences * The CEO is out of his depth. Doesn't understand what Stack Overflow is and what made it great. He's trying to turn Stack Overflow into a big bureaucratic place * HR uses OfficeVibe to measure employee satisfaction. Yet the questions on OfficeVibe are engineered so that you say good things about the company. They ask questions like "how environmentally conscious is your organization?". OfficeVibe never asks for any of the things people are uncomfortable about, which in the ends makes it look as if everyone is happy We used to have the ability to post anonymous questions on the AMAs. When somebody mentioned the possibility of unionizing, the CEO looked clearly uncomfortable. From that moment on, you need to be logged in in order to ask anything

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are hearing the concerns around D&I and have announced a plan last week, which includes a significant budget of up to $1 Million dollars a year allocated towards DEIB initiatives. We are hiring a Director of D&I, a Director of Organizational Learning and Development, and are investing in inclusion and career path training, programs, partnerships, and reporting. We do our best to create an open, safe space for questions. One of our core values is transparency. We truly believe that open and honest communication, while sometimes uncomfortable, leads to productive conversations. That said, we know not everyone feels comfortable asking questions in front of a large group. Officevibe has a predetermined set of questions to measure engagement through weekly surveys and also includes a suggestion box to share feedback, anonymously or non-anonymously, not covered in the existing surveys. This enables the People Team and leaders to engage in healthy dialogue on areas of constructive feedback or questions raised by employees in both an anonymous and non-anonymous format (based on individual preferences). If a question arises for AMA, or an employee has feedback that they do not feel comfortable raising in front of a group, we encourage them to go to one of their business partners or anyone on the People team. We are open to other ideas where we can collect and respond to feedback and are working tirelessly to ensure Stack Overflow is a safe space for all employees.

Positive, employee-friendly, inclusive, collaborative, and collegial culture. Fully remote work environment. Strong new leadership in the Revenue organization. Passion for the products. Still innovating after 17 years.

Cons

Company is going through a lot of changes. Solid business strategy and plan, but the environment can be intense. Turnover in Product leadership has not yet stabilized.
