Pros

Helping adults with disabilities be as independent as possible while living in Starkey homes while working with some hardworking supportive team members is nice. Hours to work extra in the home you're assigned or another home is always an option.

Cons

Too much work for the too little pay. Training is horrible, community living training is a irrelevant and no one is available to teach you the correct thing b/c everyone is doing it wrong, or you are working alone when you should be shadowing. Starkey expects everyone working in the homes to be able to give medication accurately and document it accurately like a nurse would. Nurses get paid more. This position is also a counselor, advocate, activity coordinator, plan coordinator, therapist, cook, housekeeper, and CNA. Collectively, the expectations are too high when the nursing team does little of the nursing care and other staff refuse to help in Starkey homes that house people with aggressive and unpleasant behaviors. Be ready for the nursing team to be rude, illogical, and tell lies while doing no work in the home and helping to ensure non-clinical staff know how to be a nurse while working for a non-healthcare organization. The whole thing is funny and sad. People show up for money only sometimes, due to this horrible culture allowed.
