Pros
Living the Story House Values Every Day At Story House, you're not just part of a company—you’re part of a purpose-led community that genuinely values connection, integrity and innovation. As an Executive Assistant, you help shape the rhythm of a business that exists to inspire and support young learners, which makes your work feel both meaningful and rewarding. Collaborating in a Warm, People-First Culture Story House fosters a culture built on relationships—between educators, families, children, and the wider team. That same approach extends to internal teams, where respect, humour, and care are part of the everyday. As an Executive Assistant, you get to work closely with passionate leaders in an environment that values heart just as much as skill. Autonomy to Create Impact This isn’t a role where you're micromanaged or boxed in. At Story House, Executive Assistants are empowered to take initiative, solve problems independently, and continuously improve how things are done. There’s real trust placed in your judgment, and room to make your mark. Bringing Structure to a Creative Space The early learning sector is dynamic and people-centered—which means there’s always a lot going on. Your ability to bring clarity, calm, and structure is not only valued—it’s essential. You become the backbone of daily operations, enabling leaders to stay focused on their vision while you keep the wheels turning smoothly. Being Part of a Bigger Story At Story House, everything comes back to children’s learning and development. Even in a corporate role, you’re contributing to that bigger purpose. Whether it's coordinating a leadership event, managing a critical project, or simply keeping things organised—you know your work is helping shape better outcomes for children and families.
Cons
Juggling Competing Priorities With multiple leaders, projects, and priorities on the go, no two days are the same. It can be a challenge to stay ahead of shifting timelines and urgent needs—but if you thrive on variety and love being the calm in the chaos, this can also be a strength-building opportunity. Balancing Structure with Flexibility Story House encourages innovation and responsiveness, which means plans can change quickly. As an Executive Assistant, you’ll need to strike a balance between keeping things organised and being adaptable when the unexpected happens. Working Behind the Scenes Without Always Getting Recognition Executive Assistants are often the quiet achievers. Your work is crucial, but not always visible. It takes self-motivation and pride in your own standards to keep delivering excellence—even when most of it happens behind the scenes. Supporting Leaders with Big Visions Story House leaders are passionate, driven, and ambitious—which can be incredibly energising, but also means high expectations and a fast pace. It takes confidence, communication skills, and strategic thinking to keep up and add value in meaningful ways. Maintaining Boundaries in a Heart-Centered Sector Early childhood is an emotionally rich environment. You’ll often be close to stories that tug at your heart, while also managing business demands. Learning how to stay empathetic but not overwhelmed is a key skill in sustaining your energy and effectiveness over time.
Pros
Storyhouse is a supportive work environment with plenty of room for career progression. Since coming on board as part of the team I have found great work life balance in a supportive and fun work culture. My two children also currently attend storyhouse and have progressed in leaps and bounds due to the amazing pool of educators constantly supporting and encouraging them to thrive. Would definitely recommend!
