Horrible environment, terrible CEO - Director Strategic Partnerships Employee Review

Pros

Virtually everyone else at Strategic Partnerships was professional, friendly and wonderful to work with.

Cons

The CEO is the single worst person I have ever worked with. Constantly belittling and micro-managing staff. Horrible pay. Bad insurance. Believes she is an expert on literally every single issue and will threaten to fire you for professional disagreements over minor issues (email titles). The company has run in the red for several years because of her poor leadership and constantly changing goals. Did not come across a single person who actually enjoyed working there. CEO would change mind on processes and belittle employees over extremely minor issues. Constant paperwork and inefficiencies. Meetings, meetings, meetings. If 4 of 5 goals are met perfectly, the 5th goal was the most important and the failure to meet said goal will be the focus of any discussion. Horrible, inflexible environment. If you like working for someone who will look over your shoulder and complain, this is the place for you. If you want to learn virtually nothing, make someone else a lot of money and then be nickled-and-dimed yourself, SPI is the perfect spot. Was not provided any training for my position, which was not even what I was initially hired for. In one year, 13 other people left SPI. This is a small company with barely over 20 people working in the office. People leave without having other work lined up because the environment and CEO are that horrible. People left after mere weeks. Senior staff that had been there for years commented to me when I was hired that if this didn't work out, they would never post for this position again because no one wanted to work with the CEO. I should have read the other review for SPI before taking the job because I would have avoided it like the plague.

Pros

I enjoy smaller organizations where you can interact with senior leaders to both learn and contribute at a high level. I also enjoy the highly intelligent staff, the mental stimulation is invigorating.

Cons

I'm sure there are but nothing comes to mind.

Pros

The one upside is that work generally stays at work, and you are not usually expected to spend your evenings or weekends catching up.

Cons

This company is a mess. Leadership is poor, the culture is toxic, and morale is terrible. Most people seemed miserable, and plenty were trying to get out. Taking PTO or being out sick was treated like a personal offense. Management, including the CEO, had no problem bothering people while they were out. The CEO made promises to clients that the staff cannot realistically deliver, then expected everyone to kill themselves trying to meet absurd deadlines. If something went wrong, you get berated. Half the time, you could also get reprimanded for doing exactly what you were told to do. Everything is treated like an emergency, and no matter what you do, it is never good enough. Constant criticism, unreasonable expectations, and zero respect for employees. I would not recommend working here under any circumstances.
