Pros

The only pro to this company, is that it is based in NYC.

Cons

If you want to go to work feeling miserable about yourself, then sign up! But most designers want an inspiring and fun work environment. This position by far has been one of the most uninspiring companies I have ever worked for. The company has absolutely no interest in the employees' skills or interest in supporting growth. I worked at Paper Cut Clothing LLC for 4 months, and I went to this job every day hating it and stressed out. Not only are you completely overworked with unpaid overtime, even though they claim that is one of their "perks" at the company. ( When I got into the job...I was told by my manager that they would have to sign off on this. ) But you are expected to be a machine and work in a sweat shop-like environment and produce an unrealistic about of detail pages/CADs. The manager of my team also preferred to micromanage anything remotely creative, and had me file invoices and do a millions different tasks all at once which was obviously impossible. There is absolutely no structure or schedule that was introduced to me, other then their multiple excel sheets. When I was on boarded, I was pretty much expected to understand their "imaginary design" system. They definitely should give a good look into getting a PLM system because it would fix a magnitude of issues. There was absolutely zero creativity in this position, even though I was told I would be using my creativity such as creating ORIGINAL prints by hand-drawing and painting in the interview. I was pretty much misled because when I got into the role...the company was already buying all their print designs. They pretty much just hired me to be a robot and to put the prints into repeat, index them, and change the colors a bit on a PC computer. Talk about uninspiring! The job was highly uncreative! Furthermore, they don't even want to hire more designers. So, they pretty much put the workload of 3 designers onto 1 designer, and expect them to not drown in the unmanageable workload. Also the two CEOs that run it are sexist and they don't know what they are doing. (Studio Nazar, Paper Cut Clothing LLC., Pink Rose Clothing, and Olive & Oak, are all under the same ownership.) In fact, they have no idea of actually how to run their company or business. They definitely do not keep up on fashion trends. They also do not care about anyone, especially their employees, as they just expect you to show up and do the work without a moment to breathe. I would not recommend this company to any recent BFA graduate, as you will be highly discouraged and completely miserable everyday because you literally need ZERO creativity for this job. Staying positive and motivated at this job was one of the most difficult aspects at this company. Oh, and if you have started a new job there, I would advise you to quit as soon as you start hating your job! It is not worth having this job at in the industry at. If you are looking for good experience and a fun job, do not come here. Freelancing is a way better option. That's what I am doing now, and having the time of my life! I would not recommend this company to anyone that is a designer. Especially if you invested money into your BFA degree, there are so many better places to work for in the industry.

Pros

I’m working at Studio Nazar since 2014! Through these years my experience in the area of work that I perform has improved, grown and matured My colleagues are people with whom I have a relationship not only of work but also of fellowship. What I can say about my work? is that I have the freedom to work and coordinate my work freely. The owners and supervisors have always treated me with respect.

Cons

I have no cons , I really enjoy doing my best in what I do.

Pros

Stable hours most of the time, typical 9:00 to 7PM job, except in busy season Majority of people at lower levels are nice and friendly and tried to be helpful

Cons

No 401K benefits and cheap health/dental insurance, I paid so much out of pocket while there Vacation and sick days lumped together- people came in sick spreading germs because of it Disgusting leaky bathrooms, a toilet with no cover, except a slab of wood No HR department to send grievances to, people I knew who spoke up were mistreated then fired Upper level management never stuck to calendared meetings or agreed to have meetings when needed, ONLY ON THEIR TIME, had to constantly check their desks/offices many times throughout the day to try to catch them, a waste of time when we had so much work ---- but they always made time for personal clothing tailor to come in on a regular basis for tailor made suitings CAMERAS EVERYWHERE - security is important, but I'd seen the owner/CEO of the company walk around the office creepily watching the feeds on his phone nonstop, it was disturbing and made me uncomfortable Upper level management would tell inappropriate jokes (racial and sexist), which was very rude and unprofessional Owner/CEO/Upper level management would walk around drunk and drinking alcohol during working hours, ranting or talking about how rich they were Our production head at the time (and probably is still there) was Korean and would speak the majority of the time only in Korean, talking openly and badly about workers in the office to other Korean-speaking employees, again very unprofessional
