Pros
Simple and manageable work in the window shop no experience needed
Bi-Weekly pay schedule via deposit, never had problems
Tolerable short-term option for students or anyone needing quick income
No strict oversight if you're in the shop you're left to your tasks, only need to get the job done, can put headphones in and do it with brain off
Can be a decent way to fill a gap between better jobs or coast until winter layoffs for ei
Cons
Turnover is constant. They want one person to do every job, take low pay, and think they’re lucky to be there. This place hires random people with no real experience (such as myself), pays them the bare minimum, and hopes one of them sticks around to replace trained skilled employees. Over a dozen people tried. None stayed. They recycle bodies, dangling a “manager” title over a job that goes nowhere beyond twenty an hour as if it is a career.
I was told I’d be doing one thing after being moved to the warehouse helper, ended up sent to construction helper (at warehouse worker pay) for less pay, and my wage that was agreed upon for the position I agreed to do was wrong until I pointed it out. They fixed it only because I caught it.
The window shop itself isn’t awful decent for killing time relative to job demands. If you’re in high school and need a short summer work, it fine. Otherwise, don’t waste your time. You won’t grow here, you won’t move up, you wont gain any skills you can take to anywhere worthwhile. Just pretend to love the job and wanting to move up to become the manager or foreman at the company, take your cheque, get out.
