Pros
Money was decent, food at the end of shift was always good, central location in Denver so easy commute from most general areas throughout the Denver metro. Pretty solid job to have during college as the option for lunch and dinner shifts were flexible.
Cons
Management turnover is insane. In the almost three years I worked at Sushi Den I think there were about 14 different managers cycled through there. It was nearly impossible to move up. Was always hoping to become a food runner/bar back but was never given the opportunity because the GM wasn't a fan of me personally. I grew up in Denver and saw many people I knew come through the restaurant and would say hello and give recommendations on different dishes and sure I would stop briefly but always made sure my assigned section was well maintained but was still scolded for talking to people...sorry for being social oops. Due to this, I was unable to pursue other positions despite being the primary trainer for new employees and always performing very well. Work life balance is a bit rough as I saw many servers be "punished" for taking time off. These punishments would entail being given bussing, hosting, and food running shifts. This was the biggest thing that rubbed me the wrong way because there is obviously so much more to life than work. God forbid you wanted to take a vacation or long weekend. Very few people of color working front of house was also a common theme amongst all restaurants...pretty sus.
