Pros
SG is ripe for growth and mentorship opportunities if you raise your hand and are willing to move out of your comfort zone, both in terms of building relationships with the leadership team / top reporters, and getting creative on tough accounts. The firm has a variety of cutting edge clients, from hot startups to more established enterprises, which armed me with knowledge and experience across industries, helped me hone career-defining interests and grow my network. What made SG stand out was the truly collaborative ethos on all teams, opportunities to level up on smaller accounts to gain crucial management skills, and fun brainstorms / lunchtime hangouts / themed parties with colleagues I became great friends with. Ample PTO and WFH Fridays were the cherry on top.
Cons
To thrive at SG, you need to be ready to put in hard work, cope with a sometimes stressful and fast-paced environment, and be a self-starter. Some teams are leaner than others, which is both a blessing and a curse (taking on more can demonstrate scrappiness, but client contact in this situation is sometimes overwhelming). While enthusiastic and friendly employees definitely informed a fun work culture, leadership could have been better about organizing more frequent and spontaneous happy hour events.
