Pros
The lower-level supervisors are top notch (LTs and most of the SGTs). It's a relaxed environment, with your typical blowouts amongst peers, due to inner office politics. I promise it's no worse than any other work environment. A new courthouse is being built. Easy to prove yourself and get special assignments early in your career. Ample training is also available.
Cons
Captains and above, including the Sheriff are extremely distant. It would not surprise me if they could not recognize some from their own department if it were not for a uniform/badge/gun in full display. The Sheriff seems like he is ready for retirement, and I surmise, most the department will be joyful when that day arrives.
