Pros

The office is nice. Lunch is provided some days.

Cons

Apathetic, lazy, inexperienced, uncaring and ignorant executives lead Swell. Such characteristics result in little to no executed products, disorganization, nasty internal politics and ultimately a failing company. Products developments are gone about at a snails pace due to no direction from c level execs and the chosen product developments are decided on a whim, dependent on what the sole unqualified, inexperienced, and insecure product owner feels like. Many feel that that the hours are flexible and vacation is unlimited, but in reality it's not. Company guidelines set specific pto time, working hours, etc but as leadership is so in effective they fail to hold employees to these expectations.

Pros

The best culture and people I have ever worked with. If there were more companies that adopted Swells culture this world would be a better place. Each employee at the company has a voice to be heard with complete autonomy from top to bottom Strong communication and the collaborative environment that touches each and every team. The top-level management including the CEO has done a phenomenal job at making sure each employee has a voice. The workflow is a truly agile process with great discussions, dialogues, and communication amongst employees. The culture is so potent and influential that it subjectively changed my personal life as well.

Cons

A corporate venture by Pac Life. A real complex industry with many obstacles including a strong barrier to entry.

Pros

I have been working at Swell Investing full-time for more than a year Pros I’ve been with Swell since launch. I originally started as a contractor but went full-time soon after. I love the company’s mission, and I feel like they are making a difference in an industry that needs it the most. It’s a great place to work, but like any early stage startup it has its pros and cons. • team- a great group of people to work with, everyone is super smart and brings a diverse set of skills to the table • a good place to learn new skills • a good place to learn more about the financial world and making good decisions for your own future • methodology for building product - pair programming, user testing and an agile approach to building product • Location, location, location - the office is a few blocks from the beach and has an amazing outdoor patio • HR actually cares - in-house HR takes time to truly listen to employees and make changes • transparency with employees around business decisions • flexible work hours • good benefits

Cons

• priorities sometimes shift quickly • parent company slows down progress
