Pros
You will learn how to use a lot of different equipment. Most supervisors are helpful and friendly. The apprenticeship program is a good opportunity to gain work experience. Only air conditioned factory I’ve ever been in.
Cons
Pay is horrific. You will start at less than $15 an hour, and with time you’ll be lucky to make $20. It’s a hard sell when the gas station next door is starting people at 17-18 an hour. Company advertises up to $55-$65 an hour which is very misleading as this pay is only available to those willing to work 7 days a week (and you will be HEAVILY taxed anyway). Shift differentials are paid as a bonus and they can take it away if you have a few quality issues which is constantly held over your head. If you have a family who you value spending time with AND being able to feed them then this is not the place for you. Even the shop foreman and supervisors complain about the pay. It’s unfortunate because this would be an AMAZING 5 star place to work if they payed a solid living wage. Company likes to boast of there “conservative values” (Trump stickers everywhere) yet they have no issue hiring 99% immigrants in order to keep wages down. I am extremely conservative myself and find this hiring practice quite reprehensible. They are no different than anyone else, they want all your time and to own your life but they aren’t willing to pay well for it unless you work like a slave. Wouldn’t recommend as a long term place to work if you value your free/family time. They need to step into the modern world and learn that you have to pay well and offer a solid work/life balance in order to retain employees. Blue collar Job that pays like a fast food chain.
