Pros
No pros. I agree with many negative reviews here.
Cons
They asked me if I could do simultaneous interpreting for them. I agreed and requested any materials to be sent to me when we discussed the assignment. I received numerous documents and recordings with highly technical medical terminology the day before the task. Just reading through them would take hours. They seem to lack understanding of the difference between simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. I still wanted to deliver, but I was told that if I didn't feel comfortable, it was fine, and they would find someone else. Who would feel comfortable without any time to prepare at all? The terms are very misleading. They did not send materials in advance to allow time for proper preparation and to estimate my fees, so I essentially gave the estimate blindly, knowing nothing about this task except for the field, which left no time to prepare. They were also surprised that I wanted more money for the preparation. The person I was communicating with told me that it’s fine if I didn't feel comfortable; they have found someone else. Who would feel comfortable with no preparation at all and a large amount of materials sent a day before the assignment, while also having other commitments on the day the materials were delivered? And then they added a negative review about me. Unprofessional and toxic.
