Pros
- Quite good 2nd pillar, with high extra-mandatory contribution by Swisscom - 28 days of vacation + overtime properly compensated - 4 months of maternity leave, 4 weeks of paternity leave - Flexibility - Salary is reasonable - Job stability is good - They pay for your home Internet and personal phone - Contribution to transportation costs - Hybrid setup
Cons
No motivation: - Bonus only depends on company target achievements, you won’t get more for going the extra mile - Salary increase only depends on your position in the “salary band” for your job level. If you’re below 100%, you get slightly more than what gets agreed with unions, if not, slightly less. Doesn’t correlate with effort. - Promotions are extremely time consuming, bureaucratic, and virtually impossible after you reach DevOps IV. Gets worse every year, and I was told multiple times “that’s it, you reached pretty much the top of your job level, so yearly salary adjustments will be minimal, and due to the job pyramid, we can’t have more senior positions open, so even if you deserve it, you won’t get a promotion” Promotions are pretty much only obtained after many years, no matter if you deserve it or not. Not motivating if they tell you this is the top of your career and your salary will only go down if you’re in your early 30s. The only talks internally are “budget cuts”, “do more with less”, and how to stop people from even changing departments / positions due to lack of budget.
