Pros

Interesting technology. Pretty good pay and benefits. Some work from home

Cons

This place is pretty screwed up. they go on a hiring binge for over a year. Then someone panics and decides we need to layoff 150 people. they don't know how to use staffing/forecasting tools. Project priorities change every week. Resources (people) are jerked around to which ever customer is complaining this week. Just a guess, but my business sense is telling me they are getting ready to sell the company. Think along the lines of Amazon bought Kiva for their robotics. Now think of the next biggest retailer and why they would want Symbotic robotics. Those project s were the only ones getting resources and anyone not working on those projects got the ax. The company spread itself way too thinly and started too many projects with the resources to support them. Don't work here!!

Thank you for the feedback. Like all startups, we are trying to learn and improve as we go. At the start of 2018, the focus of the company shifted from scaling to delivering for our current customers. That shift has required a realignment and rethink to take us to the next stage as a successful startup.

Pros

Interesting technology and exposure to advanced automation systems. Opportunity to work on complex engineering projects.

Cons

Poor work-life balance with high expectations and little flexibility. Communication from leadership and the general manager was very limited, making it difficult to stay aligned. There was also a lack of transparency around performance expectations and job security. Even when performing well and fully understanding the environment and workflows, employees could be let go without warning or a second chance. This creates unnecessary turnover and results in lost knowledge, requiring time and resources to retrain new engineers who are unfamiliar with the systems.
