Pros

My tenure at Syngenta gave me my first exposure to the wider marketing world, and I had plenty of opportunties to dive into things like content creation and brand development. It was a great place to grow, experiment and cut one's teeth. I also quite liked the team I was part of, as there were some high-quality human beings that made even the grindiest days that much better. Was fully onboard with overall company mission and values, and couldn't sneeze at the pay or benefits, either.

Cons

In my role, at least, there was precious little opportunity for advancement...which became the ultimate sticking point. While many aspects of my day-to-day job were enjoyable, there was a sense that you were just stuck in a never-ending hampster wheel cycle with no real sense of progression. When I raised this with management, one of two things happened. I was either told "something" vaguely would be coming somewhere down the road, or that I wasn't well-rounded enough (or some variation on that theme). I felt like I was getting led on and/or fobbed off, and that went on for years, unfortunately. As someone who devoted nearly a decade to the company, it was soul crushing. Despite consistently good performance reviews, glowing feedback and years of strong, creative work, I was left feeling that none of it amounted to much.

It may be difficult to work with people who speak a lot of different languages, but English is the default and it's not a problem
