Pros
Very sharp people; plenty of very interesting and challenging problems to tackle; fantastic work-life balance; totally flexible hours; lots of free food and great nights out. Pay is reasonable. Well run company; excellent streamlined IT support.
Cons
Synopsys use ancient custom-built technologies leading to too much reinventing the wheel; hiring policy values intelligence and PhD qualifications over SW development competency leading to poor SW design, bizarrely over-complicated architecture, vast code duplication and endless consistency issues. Management do not get it, no matter how many times you tell them. Office location is awful. Promotion is frustratingly opaque.
