Pros

Get to sample products to customers. Food brokers can be helpful to making your goals. Benefits package was decent for the cost.

Cons

I’ve always been skeptical of these reviews however, Sysco sales jobs are always available here because it’s a an exercise in crisis management and less about building customer relationships which is the whole point of being a sales ‘consultant’. My sales manager was a hot mess, completely disorganized, unsupportive, inefficient and seemed to be a ‘box checker’ for the higher ups. Lots of time is wasted on useless meetings during which you’ll watch an inspirational video or 2 and discuss why you haven’t sold the priority product of that particular week. You will put ridiculous mileage on your vehicle driving all over the place to put out never ending fires and the allowance won’t come close to covering the true costs. Unfortunately for customers and sales people, Sysco seems to suffer due to its size and lack of customer support. Hopefully they can figure it out and get the trucks loaded properly. I would avoid unless you’re out of options.

A lot of things to do with food -- extra stuff to eat.

You have to get your bags checked before leaving the building.

Pros

You can make money but it all depends on the orders you get, how fast you can go, how long you can maintain that pace without getting burned out. Definitely a young mans sport, as the do refer to you as "industrial athletes."

Cons

Like many industries the hours can be long. For the ones who don't make much on running above rate then you can make up for it in hours. If you soak the hours and run you can definitely make some big money. The turn over rate is extremely high there, even in management. I used to be proud of the union but the teamsters in Cleveland are completely worthless, I would bet they are getting paid under the table to not fight for contract negotiations. When I was there the contract expired and they barely fought for anything, on voting day they literally said they wont back us up if we don't pass this contract....so consider that when you want to work for this place. Also the equipment is so old and broken that people were taking the scanners home just so they could have a good one for the next night.
