Pros

The Partnerships team is AMAZING. These people are smart and would die for their clients.

Cons

I was hired with the promise of “travel you can choose” and “the summer is our busy season, it will get better.” So I signed a permanent full time and worked your butt off (50 hour weeks.. weekends, holidays, etc) for months. During this time I partially neglected my family and friends, and fully neglected my mental and physical health (I lost 10 pounds and this is A LOT for a person like me)… everything was second to the job. They promised flexibility, but really, every time I took advantage of that “flexibility” it was frowned upon and guaranteed a mark against me. Executives were open about their personal lives, but held mine against me because I was more junior. I was promised that I would get to pick my work travel (so I could work around my family obligations), two trips out west, but when the time came, they opted me out of all travel stating various meaningless excuses. For months, I worked my butt off with the promise that there would be a couple slower months. I kid you not, as soon as the slower months began, BYE BYE. Despite bonding with these people over financial struggles, family similarities, nobody really cares about you, they only care about the bottom line. When it is convenient for them, they will dispose of you like trash, despite so may promises otherwise. I feel cheated and used. I warn you NOT to work here if you have a voice - they do not like people to speak up, unless it has something to do with making more money (aka TRICKING their clients out of their money with INSANE back of house markups that clients are completely unaware of). Oh and don’t forget about figuring out ways to trick clients into paying for their cross-Canada travel just to see friends in various provinces. Don’t get me started on management. The person I worked for has NO business being a manager. While I can confidently say this person is great at CLIENT management and doing the actual work, they have 0 idea how to properly manage people and cross-sectional teams. It’s their way or the highway - they do not care about the agency-wide “process”. They fully expect you to be a mind reader - something said in passing in a team meeting, for example, never assigned, never a due date offered… comes to you two days later to see if it is done….??? DID YOU ASK ME TO DO THIS?? NO??? THEN CLEARLY IT’S NOT DONE??? Also just expects you to know how to do everything. AND DO NOT GET ME STARTED on the onboarding process - what a show! Professional companies will setup the onboard process for you… this place? Oh, figure it out yourself! “Go search in the company files for x y and z. You’ll figure it out!” I could go on for hours about what a show this place is. Last but not least, THEY FIRED A PREGNANT PERSON (me). Lowlives.

Pros

Some well known clients. Close to the subway. Friday beer carts. Lots of in house after hours social gatherings, handful of wonderful co workers, cool (hip) office set up. Dog friendly. Opportunity to do some Brand Ambassador work (extra $$)Opportunities to go to various sporting events (employee of the month reward)- if chosen. The owner of the company is nice.

Cons

Long hours. Very low wage (below industry standard). No parking. Toxic high school environment-lots of drama/backstabbing - you need to make friends with the right people and you can see who is favored right away. If you join the right group of friends, you will receive all that you ask for (training, raises, career development, time off advancement within the company) and you get away with dumping work on others, coming in late or not coming in at all and taking all the credit when other people have done the job- a blind eye will be turned. You are not appreciated for the time you put into the company. Complaints are frowned upon and discussed with others (no confidentially) as there is no formal HR to voice a concern to or solve the problem. It is expected to be on call and work overtime on a regular basis. There is a big section of time where you are not allowed to take any time off and dedicate yourself to this company. Be prepared to work past midnight many nights

Thank you for your feedback. It’s disappointing to read the challenges that you’ve listed. The mention of a toxic high school environment is surprising to us. We have worked hard to hire a team of smart, creative, driven people who don’t take themselves too seriously, are open to feedback and continuously strive to improve. We are incredibly proud of our team and we continuously seek their feedback in different ways. We conduct internal surveys, ongoing informal development discussions and formal development and satisfaction discussions three times a year. We have a clearly defined HR team to provide a place where concerns can be voiced and support for problem solving. We also pay attention to the feedback on Glassdoor. In fact, it has helped us over the years to make changes and improve. We definitely aim to reward our team with training, raises, career development, time off and advancement within the company. We firmly believe that rewards and recognition should be given to people who are passionate about our clients, the work we do and the people they work with. A member of the leadership team would love to chat further with you if you are interested. You know how to reach us.
