Pros

The annual conference but ironically this was the first time I had seen most people.

Cons

I thought I would write my account from start to finish of my experience and I am leaving some details out so I cannot be identified I am also encouraging my colleagues to share their views because I strongly believe Team Prevent need to listen and make some big changes as they have not done much as far as I can see to improve things. I am not just an angry employeee having a rant my views are constructive and honest and I am keeping my emotions out of it. I have been working as a clinician for a while for Team Prevent and at first it seemed like it was a good place to work. I had heard some colleagues complaining when I first joined but I thought I would give it the benefir of the doubt because most of what they were saying I had heard before in different companies I had worked. Anyway it was not long until I realisef that what they were saying was true but not only that it was worse! I really had my hopes up for Team Prevent becasue they promote themselves as a good employer with good employee relations but that could not be farther from the reality of it I do not think they actually care about their staff. Within days I was rushed through the initiation and thrown straight into working for a customer in a difficult industry I had never worked in before but that did not seem to matter and there was no induction given to introduce me to the customer which I thought was very bad practice. When I expressed my concerns I was told that’s just the way it is. I did not meet my manager until 3 months in and we only spoke once over the phone briefly before then. Throughout my time at Team Prevent I’ve been sent all over the place working for different customers sometimes on a daily basis and told to travel sometimes very long distances due to staff shortages. On numerous occasions I have only found out on the morning where I was going. As I have gotten to know my colleagues it has become very clear that my experience is the same for most people: Being left to fend for yourself Very little consistency in your daily routine and constantly working for different customers Everybody working to their own clinical standards with no uniformity or guidance When you need support it is not easy or clear where to find it Disorganised You never hear from management I tried to express my concerns to my manager but was more or less told that I had to get used to it or leave and was asked how did I think they felt having to manage everyone in such difficult circumstance with not enough staff and management. It has not got much better and I keep getting told that they will recruit more people but as soon as a new one comes two more leave. The only reason I’ve stayed is because I need the money I feel so let down and my mental health has suffered I feel like I am stuck in a rut because now I am so low I feel like I cannot do my job properly and my self-esteem is holding me back from finding another job. My only respite has come in the last months as workload has reduced so I am using this time to build my confidence back up and as soon as feel good again I am going to start looking for another job otherwise my mental health will not last much longer.

I’m afraid I seriously question the integrity of this review. We are aware that a fake review has previously been posted by an unscrupulous competitor and due to the factual inaccuracies in the review I suspect this is another attempt which is sad and disappointing. If this was a genuine review, I would be devastated and would appeal to the reviewer to contact me directly in confidence. However the content of the review is strikingly similar to the previous fake review. I challenged the inaccuracies in that review, and I specifically mentioned our annual conference in my response as an example of our commitment to employee engagement/CPD. It seems to me an unlikely coincidence that the conference is referenced in this review? Interestingly, the day after I posted the response highlighting the inaccuracies, the review disappeared from Glassdoor. What leads me to believe this is another fake review is that the comments simply do not reflect what happens in our company and seem to have been written by someone who has never worked for Team Prevent. For example: • All new employees are required to complete a comprehensive 4 week induction programme. This includes a 2 day corporate induction at our Central office with IT system training and protected time for each new employee to read and familiarise themselves with our policies and procedures. In depth training and support is also provided on the client contract/s to which the individual is assigned. Standard induction for all OHAs starts with 25% case load and working up to 100% case load by week 4. All OHAs are supported by their line managers through monthly performance reviews, regular one to ones and peer supervision. Our senior team facilitate monthly training webinars for all clinical and operational employees. • We employ three OHAs in Oxford and have two clients in this area. One of our OHAs works on site for one of these clients, the other two work for our other client. Therefore a clinician would not be ‘sent all over the place working for different customers’. • We never ask our on site OHAs to travel very long distances. Our clinics are pre-planned so it would be impossible for us to tell an OHA where they were going on the morning of the clinic. • We have clear clinical standards, policies and procedures which are accessible on our shared drives to all clinical staff. • In addition to the hands-on line manager support, additional support is readily available from the senior clinical team. The senior clinical and operational teams also distribute weekly update bulletins and we have a quarterly newsletter. During the COVID 19 period, I have been providing video updates for all team members to keep everyone up to speed with the great work that is being done by our employees all over the UK. • The review talks about workload having reduced over the recent months which is completely untrue. We work for a number of clients who employ key workers and we are very busy at this time, unlike some of competitors who have had to furlough a large percentage of their staff due to reduced workload. • Most importantly, our Occupational Health practitioners are intelligent people. If they were as unhappy in the role as the review suggests, I am sure they would vote with their feet, rather than taking to Glassdoor as there is certainly no shortage of job opportunities available for OHAs across the country. I will be asking Glassdoor’s Content Moderation team to take a closer look at the review with a view to authenticating its source. Marilyn Dummer Managing Director
