Pros

Paydays were usually on time.

Cons

Management - mismanagement, micromanagement, and a do as I say, not as I do attitude make dealing with management at TRC a complete nightmare. Also, it would be helpful if many of those in management actually had management experience in the field they are managing. As it is, there are managers who manage a group, but have little idea of how that group actually works in the company. Senior management is the worst, having all of the power, and none of the restraint or good sense needed to run a department efficiently. The IT department is a joke. Industry substandard at its lowest. Old technology, old ideas, and outdated practices keep the IT department from functioning in any capacity resembling a professional environment. The IT "standards" in this company are anything but...there is no real standard. If you don't like the way something works, just go to management in IT, you will be promised timely, complete IT service...but don't hold your breath. No stocked equipment, no spare parts, and no way of obtaining anything IT related that you need "right now". Get used to the money you are making, because you won't see the promised raises or bonuses! In my 7 years there, I received 1 raise, and even that wasn't enough to get me to a level of pay equivalent to the work I performed. Get it in writing! If management promises you anything in this company, make sure you get it in writing...otherwise, it never happened. Over three weeks of promised comp time vanished over the course of a weekend for me. Get used to contradictory statements and practices with the IT department. What holds true for employee "A", will not necessarily hold true for employee "B", even if the two are twins, working the same job, in the same office, at the same time. Don't like the practices of the IT department, just whine to the CIO, and he will personally instruct one of his team to violate company policy to accommodate your needs...as long as it will be traced back to the technician, and not the CIO. HR has its hands full, as there are too many employees that need to be taught how to interact properly with others in a professional environment, and too few HR reps to handle the task. Office practices differ based on location. The "standards" that should be the backbone of a company, are noticeably lacking here. No two offices are configured remotely the same. Cable closets are a spaghetti hell, computer systems are dated to say the least, and archaic if a more robust word is needed to describe them. In summary, you will work long hours, and be promised everything from comp time, to bonus checks, and raises...you will receive the long hours part, but don't pin your hopes on anything else. You will be working in an unfriendly environment, where backstabbing, dirty dealing, and petty in-fighting are the norm. You will be paid at least 15% less than you would make working for a competitor. You will receive "Company Policy and Guidelines" which seem to be revised on a bi-weekly basis based on who whined about what over the weekend. Your manager will get the credit for your hard work, and then act like they earned it! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss your career good-bye (until you leave TRC).

Pros

The people are amazing and I love my team. I also really enjoy the type of remediation we do.

Cons

I don't think pay reflects the job level or stress. It is also difficult to keep up with performance indicators when management does not give enough work to meet them.
