Pros
A good easy job for programming students at MTSU. The work wasn't overly complicated and you had a lot of free time to pursue personal interests. You got your own computer, quick, 2 screens, on a fast internet connection. Most work was Python, PHP, Asterisk Telephony, and some C#. Lots of overtime in tax season.
Cons
You're the only programmer, so collaboration doesn't exist. Not very challenging programs if you're competent. Upper management had issues communicating needs. Low pay (for IT), no benefits, no promotions. Never wrote more than 1K lines of code to achieve anything. Servers are spread across internal, go daddy, liquid web, all over the place. Poor use of (cheap) internal applications which are hard to interface with programmatically.
