Pros
It's easy work, and if you work at a small airport like I do, you have lots of down time. We get paid for when the sh*t hits the fan. Down time is amazing if you can figure out how to constructively use it (even if it isn't for TSA work). Healthcare is cheap, or at least by Obamacare standards.
Cons
It's a government system. Extraordinary chance of getting full time, even if you're willing to transfer. Schedules are incredibly unstable with split shifts and varying hours, to the point where you can't hold another job. Promotion and award systems are regional and corrupt to where it picks favorites. The only thing you can get is an annual bonus, if you have a decent supervisor (I do...now).
