Pros
Flexible hours
Decent salary
Remote work
No micromanagement
Developers are friendly and approachable
Microsoft Teams makes for easy communication
Cons
No formal training was given for at least 6 months
Paid maternity leave is only 5 days!!!
No sick time (must use very limited vacation PTO for sick days). When I asked about this I was told it is industry standard (it is not).
Lack of a culture, team atmosphere or camaraderie
Lack of direction from management
Health insurance changed suddenly midyear and deductible was over $8k.
Employee reviews were given as a formality and feedback was not taken into consideration.
Requested more training and none was given.
No company updates or announcements from CEO or other leadership
Lack of formal HR policies or procedures
Lack of growth opportunity
Lack of employee support - One weekend I suffered a traumatic injury outside of work which left me without the use of my left hand. I was given 0 support other than management asking if I wanted a special keyboard. Again, no sick time available to use for recovery.
I also want to note that my last day at TSP left a bad taste in my mouth. I was laid off due to projects slowing down and lack of work from clients. My direct manager and other management I had worked with never reached out to me, even after I sent my goodbye email to thank everyone. They immediately shut down all my accounts and put my out of office on before I even finished the day.
