Extremely Toxic Work Culture – Not a Place for Learning - Architect Taliesyn Employee Review

My experience at Taliesyn was deeply disappointing. What appears on social media and public platforms is completely different from the reality inside the office. The firm promotes an image of creativity, mentorship, and a progressive work environment, but the actual workplace culture is far from that. The work culture is highly toxic and discouraging, especially for interns and junior architects. There is very little respect shown toward younger team members, and the environment often feels hostile rather than collaborative. Certain senior architects frequently speak rudely to interns and juniors, which creates a stressful atmosphere where people are afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. The principal architect’s approach to leadership is also problematic. Instead of fostering a healthy learning environment, the management style often feels dismissive and unsupportive. Constructive guidance is rare, and criticism is often delivered in a way that demotivates rather than helps people grow. One of the most frustrating aspects is the clear hypocrisy between the firm’s public image and its internal culture. On social media, the firm portrays itself as a nurturing design studio that values people and creativity. However, inside the office, the reality is quite the opposite. The disconnect between branding and day-to-day reality is striking. For students, interns, or young architects hoping to learn and grow, this may not be the right environment. Architecture is already a demanding field, and workplaces should encourage learning, collaboration, and respect. Unfortunately, this office fails to provide that. Overall, I would not recommend this firm to anyone looking for a healthy workplace or meaningful mentorship experience.
