Pros

- Most of your coworkers will be brilliant and friendly - Company events, happy hours, basketball league - Decent pay - Overtime (45+) - Great hands on experience - Free certification tests - Lots of different technologies - Flexible hours I had a great experience at Tallan. I was an intern and it was my first job right out of college. I think the best way to describe Tallan is, "You get what you put in." I put in a lot of work and time (45+ hour weeks). I learned a ton. I went from working on gov websites to other interesting clients. Tallan is mainly a Microsoft shop, so you are going to have to learn a lot of that, but there is also a lot of other things to learn. The people are, for the most part, super friendly and they are always open to help. There are quite a few happy hours organized and other events.

Cons

- CEO is not very genuine - Overworked - Lots of blame thrown around - Bad projects - Turnover rate - Job insecurity You are going to be working VERY hard at Tallan. The first project I was on had me working 60+ hours after the first month. You also tend to work on things that you haven't even signed up for. I know of a few cases of Senior Consultants doing Project Management and so on. This sometimes causes a lot of problems and in turn, a lot of people start blaming each other for things that went wrong. There are also projects that could very well doom your career. Many times, you can get stuck on a project for years, doing the same thing. There are also projects that you won't learn anything doing. If you get put on one of those projects, you are most likely going to be stuck there for a long time. Another thing was that the CEO, didn't seem very genuine to me. We met at a holiday party and he shook my hand saying that he had heard lots of great things about me. Within a couple of months, he ordered all the different offices to lay off everyone not working on a project at the time, including me, which connects to my next point. There is a super high turnover rate. People are coming and going all the time. Whether they find higher pay elsewhere, are trying to escape a doom project, or whether they are laid off. There is a vicious cycle of layoffs that happen every year or so, where the company gets too ambitions, hires too many people, expands too much, plans too many projects, and then something happens and everyone panics, resulting in a bunch of people getting laid off. Oh, and they also hired my friend as an intern and then cut the program right before it started, effectively ruining his summer because he couldn't find another. Overall, Tallan is a decent starting company, but be wary of the signs so you know when your end is coming.
