Terribly run company - R&D Engineer Tandem Diabetes Employee Review

Pros

They allow remote work for all employees.

Cons

Tandem was one of the worst run companies I have ever worked for. The whole place is a complete mess. From the CEO being engaged to the CFO (yes, really, like a local dry cleaner) to the fact that there is one person in finance who is essentially running the whole company and making all the decisions. Insane deadlines that have little grounding in what is physically possible are the norm. I don’t know if it’s because leadership is clueless or just trying to push the envelope, but it doesn’t matter because it still results in Tandem being a terrible place to work. I hope they get their acts together but I honestly doubt they will. Look elsewhere.

Pros

When I started at Tandem in 2023 honestly it was a fine job. I didn't like my role specifically as I started on the phones and hoped to move up quickly. It started with supportive supervisors in our department and my supervisor did care about my growth.

Cons

While they claim to like to promote from within, they hardly ever actually do. You get stuck in your current position and unable to move up or even to another department. Once a competitor opened their doors, it got even worse. When Sequel MedTech launched, they got a lottttt of our good people and a lot of people started leaving. It ended up that one of the managers, and the three positions above him left (not all went to sequel but they all left about a month after eachother) so that left customer support basically bare bones. It just continuously got worse and I had to get out of there. SOO glad to not be dealing with the hierarchy and having to deal with patients making real complaints and recs, escalating that to management and getting no where. The only reason it's two stars and not one is because I know most call centers only pay like $12-14/ hr and I was making around $21 but truly the pay did not offset the headache of every day work there.
