I really enjoy working at Tanzle. I get a lot of freedoms as an engineer here. The goal from management has been to create self-organizing teams that work on problems that will have an impact on the world by creating better understanding. I feel like my work has a higher meaning than just making a silly game. We are working to solve problems that will help save lives one day. We get to do that while having creative freedom and influence over the direction the company goes. We are not simply told what to do but are asked how we think we should solve the problems. It's up to each individual to determine what they can do to help. The culture to me has always been about learning and discovering. And each day we are doing that. We make mistakes, we learn from them, and each day we get closer to the vision that Mike and Nancy and everyone else has in their mind of what Tanzle can do to help the world.

It's very hard to strike a balance between giving engineers freedom of creativity while also giving direction without micromanaging. I don't envy the position management is in. The hardest position is the one between the engineering team and architects. But we still make cool stuff and everyone is able to find something they can contribute to.

Some great people work there--they just aren't allowed to do their jobs. If they were, this place would be amazing.

Poor management overall. Combo of illegal contract issues, management having horrible communication skills, the company lacking overall direction and the ability to follow-through on projects, and they don't follow through on promises to employees = worst job of my life.
