Pros

I was truly engaged as a Tek-collect CAP360 manager. I had heard from my manager how demanding the owner was on the vps and managers but I knew if I worked real hard he would like me. The service of collecting accounts for a pre-paid fee made a lot of sense to me and the others. We would meet in company headquarters for training with a vp from Pittsburgh and an older lady who was a good friend of the owner. We would get really excited to work because the training made the job seem easy. CAP360 has great looking booklets to read about how to talk to plumbers and funeral directors. I think that the owner had put a lot of money into making it all look good. CAP360 has hundreds of managers who sell this prepaid collections in groups of accounts.

Cons

I don't want to be too critical of these people but I have to be truthful too I saw a lot of things that were not too business like going on at headquarters which is a old church with no parking. The internet was always down so making calls on my own cell phone was the only way to prospect. We would meet and make calls to local businesses to make appointments. Many of these businesses had prior experiences with Tek-collect before the owner made the name switch to CAP360. I think that is was to cover up for some things that I could not figure out. I did pay $395 for the bonding and training which I did get back but none of the others did.

Pros

the position sounds great. it sounds like it is the promised land. but you need to have a real business to work for. the idea of helping business collect on bad debt for a low charge is good. so the concept is very appealing. businesses have to buy a book of account, which is where we make our commissions. they pay for a set number of accounts to have tek-collect work with calls and letters where the money collected goes to the client. the company has home collectors who handle calling of your businesses debtors. the home office only has 3 or 4 people who make collection calls.

Cons

i worked here for over a year. first you are an independent rep, on your own i think it is a 1099. there are a number of reps who have been hired to work for tek-collect or cap360. the fee is $500.00 paid to the manager for training. there is an initial training for 2 days, a friday and saturday. it needs to be longer but i understand why it can not be, everyone is on commission so the idea is to get into the field and sell appointments right away.
