Pros
With the acquisition by Danaher, who are operations experts, this part of the company is doing better. Tektronix is a remarkable company in that they are technically very advanced in the area of high-speed analog design. If that is your gig, this is a good place to be. Although many people have left Tek since the acquisition, it was once filled with very smart folks at the top of their field. Some of them remain.
Cons
As someone who has spent a long time in technology, my fear for Tektronix is that the new management may not have the same chops in managing technology as they do in operations. Their portfolio is fairly large, almost 100 companies. I like the way they have concentrated their holdings into several key areas but at the time of the acquisition of Tek, none of them even began to approach the level of technology at Tek, with the possible sole exception of Fluke. Possilble bad signs for engineers thinking of working at Tek are the move of both manufacturing AND engineering for certain product lines to China.
