Pros

The current insurance package is a shadow of what Tektronix has offered in the past, but still decent in the current market. Salaries for any sales position and all management positions is good to high. Upper management bonuses and benefits are outstanding. Time off policies are compliant with state laws. Danaher give 100% of vacation time at the beginning of the calendar year (no work - to accrue vacation time). Managers set the work culture. Some departments have outstanding work environment. Others struggle. It all depends on whether the team has gotten the attention of Executive Management or not. It is far better to be a team that works out of the line of sight of the Executive Management team. There are job advancement opportunities to be had in a few teams as well as across the Danaher "OpCo Family". These become more plentiful as old Tekkies retire or are 'right sized' out of the company.

Cons

Danaher specializes in mergers and acquisitions. It is ruthless in its pursuit of profit and consequently it drives a culture of numbers that does not nurture inspiration or innovation. The DBS model that Toyota abandoned is zealously adhered to. If a cell is not profitable for a single month (accounting period) the staffing is often "right sized" to immediately balance the budget. This is the root of the stories about temporary employees listed in other reviews. "Continuous Improvement" becomes "profit by any means necessary". Change is made with great velocity under the mantra of "don't let perfect get in the way of good". This environment of a constantly moving target can affect low morale. Many employees are overworked, over stressed and under appreciated. Training / Education compensations is dependent upon whether the company is currently turning a profit and the department is approved for that sort of thing. The expectation of most salaried employees is a 60+ work week. Average work will earn 0% to 1% raise year over year. Outstanding work will earn 2% to 3%. The only way to earn higher percentage increases is to change jobs/departments entirely. Years of instability since the Danaher takeover has created an environment of fear and anxiety among the "old Tek" employees.

Pros

Extremely smart engineers in Oregon, generally has a decent culture, invincible brand name

Cons

Company profit isn't being reinvested into itself, parent company controls all profit. This can be seen in lack of NPIs.
