Pros
Tenax has extensive experience in their industry and excellent relationships with agencies/organizations that award specialized contracts in several areas. Excellent opportunity for seasonal contract work or full-time rotational positions. Company policy is to hire experienced pilots, pay them well, and provide them the autonomy and support required to fulfill the mission in well-equipped/maintained aircraft. Minimal bureaucracy and admin, with dedicated support team at HQ. Interesting missions such as King Air aerial fire mapping for U.S. Forest Service contract and Gulfstream overseas LIDAR mapping. Tenax also provides/manages dozens of aircraft for U.S. Forest Service lead plane missions for aerial fire suppression. Opportunity to work as part of a small team with experienced, professional, no drama management.
Cons
Requires flexibility to adjust to changing (typically annual) contract requirements and ability to operate for several months continuously from a CONUS or OCONUS location. Contracting lifestyle is not for everyone, but does provides the opportunity to have significant free time off in between overseas rotations or in the off season.
