Like any human service/mental health position, work is very emotionally and physically taxing and can easily lead to burnout

great group of people who support each other and genuinely care for clients and families. clinicians are directly in charge of scheduling their appts and the position is salary based, which offers lots of flexibility.

management is non-supportive and plays the blame game rather than seeking solutions. burnout and turn over rates are extremely high, as expected with community mental health work, however management is not open to feedback from employees. management is made up of mainly white professionals who have not done face to face client work over, or it has been many years. this causes barriers and conflict when working with families and staff in the community as clients and staff members are extremely diverse and must put up with the ignorance of upper management. paperwork requirements are not adjusted to account for changes on the county levels, so staff members spend lots of time inputting information in various locations within the system and during paperwork rather than condensing the process to make it more streamlined.
