Pros

Do you want to work hard, be recognized and be rewarded for your dedication? This is the place for you. This is a company that recognizes people that truly go above and beyond what is expected. I have read a lot of these reviews critical of changes. I don't see the changes as negative. We are moving from a management style that valued and rewarded perfection to one that fosters greater individual ownership of issues and understands that every employee of this company works hard to do the right thing for our customers and each other. Have you ever come across a unique problem and needed to reach out to someone in another division for help, only to have the person say, "Dunno, sorry I can't really answer that" and just leave it at that? That does not happen here. Think about that. When I reach out to someone in another area, if they don't know, they start treating my issue as there issue and we brain storm together. I walk away with at least two points of contact, and the person I reached out to will often call me back the next day to make sure I got the answer I was looking for. That is the kind of company this is. It has amazing people in it.

Cons

There aren't many that I think are unique to Texas Mutual. I think many of the things people would call 'cons' are really just issues that are widely present in an industry that has been around for 300 years. Some of the IT systems are old, but they are working on replacing/upgrading. This isn't Google, Pied Piper or pets.com. Companies that successfully make hundreds of millions of dollars a year in profit with extremely high customer satisfaction and retention have no real reason to accept the risks of changing at the speed of light. Market leaders simply do not do that. The only other con is probably that the company is outgrowing some of its physical infrastructure, and parking can be challenging.

Pros

The mission and resources can be counted as pros as compared to other carriers, benefits are decent

Cons

Supervisor and Senior management additions and changes have been a nightmare. Abrupt changes to content and standards have been implemented with no guidance or direction. Already unmanageable workloads have doubled because directives are unclear, inefficient and not thought out, not from any realistic perspective from people completing the work. Staff is struggling to adapt to changes but supervisors and management insist “ we figure it out” burning valuable time guessing and results being rejected. Excessive meetings are help and promise to reduce workloads and provide clarification but things continue to deteriorate. Existing staff is required to attend extensive leadership training he but when positions open, outside candidates are hired WITH NO EXPERIENCE in lieu of current dedicated employees. Staff struggled to understand the roles of management as they don’t provide guidance or support and often have no recent work g knowledge of the current job, it’s demands and it’s process.
