Pros

The pay is decent. Many people who work there could never go anywhere else and get the money they make. Some directors make 6 figures with no higher education or experience, just because they are affiliated with someone high up.

Cons

TSU is built to shield the upper level administration who call the shots and deliberately ignore the state rules and make up their own internal process. They have the lower level employees conducting the work, and when the going gets tough they sacracfice the lower level staff to take the blame for their executive decisions. That is why every so often you see an employee in trouble due to their broken system. They take care of each other, and if you are trying to do good, you will be eaten alive by this place. TSU is there same every regime, new president each time, new employees which are always connected by friendships, frat brothers, or relative. They send groups of staff and faculty on "school related trips" out of the county, which have nothing to do with their position. This school is crooked as can be, and the students are suffering greatly. The last CFO didn't last a year before he packed up and left for a different opportunity. You will never understand the nature of the beast until you experience it for yourself.

Pros

Family oriented environment where most of the staff are alumni and/or close-knit

Cons

Processes are antiquated but this is due to the historic underfunding of HBCUs. Unprofessionalism runs rampant and there is not much being done about it. A lot of the individuals in leadership are poorly qualified and have only moved up because they have been with the institution for a long time. gossip and drama run rampant throughout the entire institution and there's poor accountability amongst leadership. No one actually works hard or has much diligence. It's much less of a university and more like a social club. The system is broken and it damages the reputation of the institution because students who are underserved and don't have much guidance come there looking for an opportunity to gain credentials but the university produces poor outcomes as result of high turnover in administration and
