Pros

chance to work with some great teachers and students. Teachers are generally very supportive of each other.

Cons

Constant turnover in administration. Admin did not follow the contract (ex: not paying for tuition assistance). Teachers had the same challenges as those in CPS but were paid far less. Discipline problems were out of control. One student attacked a security guard and there were no consequences. Another student touched at least 2 staff members legs. They were told to "please be patient with him". SPED and ELL were out of compliance. Due to shortage of sped teachers, they had enormous caseloads and were not compensated for extra work.

Pros

Strong sense of community, very involved parents, diverse population, innovative, growth-mindset, teachers who are concerned about the positive outcome of students, supportive administration, collaborative teaching teams, opportunities for movement - both lateral and vertical, opportunities for CEUs, great benefits

Cons

This is a fairly new school, so there are a few growing pains at this stage as we continue to develop, such as location and size of break room, changes in logistics, changes in procedure, pay is still a little under local district, balancing workload, etcetera. We continue to learn as we grow.
