Pros

Extremely cool mission, absolutely amazing students, and even some staff with vision and passion for their work

Cons

absolutely outrageous toxic management. Terrible gender bias. Leadership never communicates clearly, and you will not be paid equability if you are a woman. The leadership basically throws fits when they don't like feedback from employees, and are extremely aggressive and defensive when employees communicate their needs. There are unrealistic standards for how much work lower level staff should be completing, and leadership never put extra hours in to help support staff and show their commitment to the organization. Come here if you want to trauma bond with other poorly treated employees

Pros

It is very rare to find a non-profit/start-up that is just as passionate about their staff as their cause (with the financial support/pay to back it up). Although brief, my time at The Academy Group was life-changing (literally). I've transitioned into a greater, entrepreneurial opportunity just by being there. But while employed, I was treated with so much respect, care and intentionality. The pay was wonderful, new office space, and the hybrid work schedule was a bonus. A lot of flexibility and THE BEST benefits package I've ever seen. Ever. A very warm, communal culture as well.

Cons

They're still in the process of building and streamlining their systems (workflow, chain of command, workload, etc) and that can feel frustrating and confusing at times. But, with what you gain in this workplace, it is a feasible period to be patient with (and contribute to). The onboarding process isn't for the faint of heart, and may be a turn-off due to the amount of steps. But if you're into your work being meaningful, engaging, and reflective--you'll do well here. The "training" aspect is still being worked out, so you may find yourself 'figuring it out' at times. There can be positive and negative aspects to that, but there is always support available when addressing your needs. Work-life balance can get tricky, as you may find yourself working well-beyond your 40hr work-week depending on the needs.

Pros

Pay. Health Benefits. Not required to go to office much.

Cons

Poor leadership. Staff turn over. CEO favoritism.
