Pros
Work is there if you want it and are willing to put in the time.
Cons
The agency takes a 30% commission on illustrations, which I believe is industry standard. However, projects often pay very little compared to the time required on the part of the artist. Educational illustrators, for instance, might get a $1500 job, but the pay may only result in $10-$12 per hour at the end of the day. It may also take anywhere from 2 to 6 months to see payment AFTER FINISHING a project. It is criminally unfair to the artists to expect them to wait so long for a payment after working so hard. They take advantage of artists because they know the artists are trying to live our their dreams. I don't know where this payment would be acceptable for any other job. The only way to truly work with this company is to have a LOT of savings, or to have someone supporting you. I understand that working freelance does require savings, but this is on a whole other level. Expect to work 12 hour days on projects you won't see any payment on for MONTHS.
