Pros

Somewhat flexible schedule if you have a decent direct manager

Cons

HIGH STRESS!!!!! Beware of mental illnesses increasing with each agenda-less meeting or arbitrary deadlines that really mean nothing. Micromanaging by sociopathic narcissists. Sexism and ageism. Bureaucratic delays and deference. Pay, merit, bonuses are all “decided” behind closed doors giving direct managers no choice on who gets what on the team; it’s up to what kind of mood your VP is in during the 24hrs given to do comp planning. Unbalanced workload; just because you pay someone $100k+ doesn’t give you free rein to use and abuse them relentlessly. Incredibly stressful with “plan” and goalposts constantly moving. Numerous barriers just to get one task done. Too many layers of duplicative approvals needed. ZERO trust in the professionals they hired to do a job, making us overpaid paper pushers.

Pros

The Cigna Group overall is a fantastic company to work for! They invest in their employees and do a great job ensuring everyone, in all departments/locations/teams feel as if they matter with the multitude of perks they offer to employees. Many team members were knowledgeable, hardworking, and genuinely committed to supporting the healthcare industry.

Cons

While employed at Cigna healthcare, I experienced a work environment that often lacked consistent communication, balanced workload distribution, and transparent leadership practices. High-performing employees were frequently expected to absorb additional responsibilities without corresponding support, while shifting expectations and excessive micromanagement created unnecessary stress and instability. Over time, this impacted morale, trust within teams, and overall employee well-being.
