Cons
Turnover at The Dodo was embarrassingly high and the company has seemingly done little to address this. Those involved in content creation were typically overwhelmed with their workload and burned out within months. Many worked outside of work hours to meet company quotas. If you mentioned how stressed you were to your manager, you were likely gaslighted - and you potentially jeopardized your chances for growth. HR was also not helpful since they were simply an extension of the management team. The quality of each video suffered from the quantity of content that editors were expected to produce. The top-level managers have limited experience in production and it felt like they didn’t understand or appreciate the creative process. Employees were often disciplined for raising issues, which made managers come across as petty. The management team valued loyalty over merit and suppressed critical thinking to the extent that it felt tyrannical and cruel. Note: I left several months ago but the conversations I’ve had with current employees paint a similar picture.
