Cons
The work is never ending and direct service can be extremely demanding and wearisome. Unfortunately, burn out is high. Working here long term requires a good support system, self-awareness and somewhere to process, professional maturity and an ability to maintain a focus on the mission. Due to the nature of the work staff and clients are susceptible to a corrosive negative worldview that can lead to feeling stuck. This work is not for everyone.
