Pros

Good clinical experience, wonderful patients, caring co-workers (despite problematic management)

Cons

Previous reviews stating the high turnover and toxic environment at this company are accurate. NCI has gone through 4 clinical research coordinators just in the past year. Other staff have been fired or left voluntarily as well and this pattern has repeated for years. Even outside research sponsors have noticed and expressed concern over such red flags. The clinic’s management lacks integrity and makes false promises to their employees constantly. They do not provide adequate support, staff, or resources to their research team. The clinic does not follow Good Clinical Practices (GCP) standards for research. They cut corners constantly, lie to sponsors, lie on source docs, are negligent in reports to the IRB and are negligent to their patients. There is little training or resources provided, but they will expect you to finish your overburdened workload without getting paid for overtime. There is no real HR since all admins work offshore in the Philippines, so if for example, someone in a position of power makes uncomfortable statements (such as telling someone that if he “advocates” for you “too much,” then others might “suspect something is going on” ) or if someone has any issue at all, there’s no one to report this to. Getting a meeting with management is near impossible since requests for meetings are ignored. Most of the clinicians are wonderful as co-workers and care about their patients, but the clinic highly undervalues and under appreciates their employees and the patients. NCI has violated NJ state law by not providing full payment due to employees that were let go. The salary is decent while you’re there, but there is no job security or opportunities for growth. They failed to provide health benefits as outlined in the contract. There are many great research opportunities at this clinic, but the clinic is so poorly run that it’s hard for patients to truly benefit from those options. Treatment at the clinic is sadly not patient-centered, which is a real shame. Other people still there can’t wait to quit because of these widespread issues and increasingly low morale. A job at this clinic is NOT recommended.
