Pros
- Panorama attracts talented and caring high performers, especially at the individual contributor and middle management level.
- Remote work (though this isn't guaranteed anymore, especially if you live in the Seattle area)
- Higher than average wages for the nonprofit space
Cons
-Lack of psychological safety and accountability. If anything, staff are pitted against their colleagues.
-An environment where words and actions don’t match. This applies to scopes of work, roles and responsibilities, benefits, relationships, operations/processes, DEI, values, etc.
-Rolling back benefits (remote work, paid leave, etc).
-LOTS of firing and resignations. If the org says they're growing, that's why!
- In my entire career, I've never had to fight my own employer so hard to do the job I was hired to do. No one is set up for success and then when staff struggle they are blamed and accused of poor performance.
-Inability to sustain program funding (program implementers are often charged with fundraising and support isn’t given until the fundraising runway has already ended)
