Pros

Getting to see great product

Cons

So, so many. Please note, the 5-star reviews, especially for sales positions, are fake. However, the working conditions at the warehouses are not any better (someone was stabbed at a warehouse and it was just totally brushed under the rug?). Management is terrible - from the top down. C-level over promises our investors which leaves immense pressure that trickles down in an aggressive manner. Expect micro-managing and impossible quotas. I joined the company right after TRR went public, and the downfall I've experienced over the last 3 years is abysmal. Last year, there was a few months where quotas were manageable and somewhat attainable and our team started to earn full commission for the first time - but the thing with The RealReal is, once they have to start actually paying you, they'll make sure to change up structure to take that away. It's really despicable. They'll truly do anything to NOT pay you. The amount of great talent that has come and gone due to these conditions is a shame, and it's obvious TRR cannot retain or hire sales talent and are more so just looking to fill seats, which leads to an awful consignor and customer experience. The leadership is toxic - Cheryl has no idea what she is talking about and gives off crazy MLM vibes. Towards the end of my time, the Sales meetings made me feel like I was working for LuLaRoe. Aside from all of that, when you do get your clients to send items in - a nice chunk of the time they are lost or damaged, and you're the one stuck to deal with and explain that to your consignor. In my time, I had 2 Birkins completely lost in the warehouse. These are $15,000 handbags! How does a $15,000 handbag go MIA more than once!? I feel like TRR is so far gone that their only option is to be acquired by Ebay or another competitor at this point.

Pros

Pay and commission can be good, but the structure is unnecessarily convoluted and not as generous as it seems, and you will have no work/life balance if you want to actually make consistently high commission. If you have a true passion for luxury and fashion, you do get a lot of opportunities to handle and interact with special/rare items, and depending on store location you can meet a lot of interesting industry people and celebrities, especially during Fashion Weeks

Cons

Poor and unsupportive management with extremely unrealistic demands and expectations; you will get virtually no training, but are immediately expected to know how to do everything. The overall company culture is just unpleasant and very cliquey, and there's constant employee turnover. The online customer service system is terrible, so you will frequently have to handle customer issues that have nothing to do with you/your sales.
