Pros

Coming to The RealReal every morning is an absolute treat. The energy and spirit of every individual who works here is exciting to be around, and creates a warm, work-hard-play-hard environment. We all work together to get through the kinks that afflict every start-up, which us a stronger team by the end of each day. The full-service benefits are great, including healthcare, vision, dental and resources for stress and grief counseling (not that the work here is stressful AT ALL!). TRR contributes to your 401k, offers commuter benefits, and is constantly looking for new ways to improve the lives of its team members and the community. TRR works with a lot of differing community outreach programs and charities, which makes you feel good about the work you are doing. The RealReal really treats you like human! Employees are provided with great lunches every day, an on-site kitchen and snack bar (reasonably priced), and we are often surprised with treats, celebrations, and post-work activities: happy hours, employee BBQs, outings to the Giants games, costume contests etc. TRR really takes care of us! Hours are very reasonable and there is little to no take home.

Cons

While pay is not incredible, it is comparable to similar positions at other companies, and team bonuses when we exceed our sales targets are generous, which helps a lot. San Francisco is a very expensive city, so commission and bonuses are crucial. Our current location isn't great, though we are soon moving to a location that is more accessible via transit and in a more lively part of town-- currently, TRR offers free shuttles from main stations at peak hours, which is great.

Pros

Pay and commission can be good, but the structure is unnecessarily convoluted and not as generous as it seems, and you will have no work/life balance if you want to actually make consistently high commission. If you have a true passion for luxury and fashion, you do get a lot of opportunities to handle and interact with special/rare items, and depending on store location you can meet a lot of interesting industry people and celebrities, especially during Fashion Weeks

Cons

Poor and unsupportive management with extremely unrealistic demands and expectations; you will get virtually no training, but are immediately expected to know how to do everything. The overall company culture is just unpleasant and very cliquey, and there's constant employee turnover. The online customer service system is terrible, so you will frequently have to handle customer issues that have nothing to do with you/your sales.
