Pros

It is good to work with a family owned company with direct access to the owners. Also, they let you run a full desk and meet with clients as long as you show you are competent which is helpful in getting connected within Houston.

Cons

They have terrible management. Their training program lasts about 3 days, which isn't always a bad thing - it will show whether or not you can step up. They treat people well for the first 6 months and then it seems to go downhill which is why their turnover rate is so high unless you're in the 'inner circle'. They also struggle to break out of their routines/mindset - it is so hard for them to think that anyone, other than management, has any valid advice so it makes it difficult for them to listen and take advice without feeling as if you will be punished for it.

The Rowland Group Response
10y
We value low turnover and a positive culture. We made a change in management in Houston, transferring two managers from our Tulsa headquarters. Our Tulsa office has been named "Best Places to Work" 5 years in a row, an accomplishment no other business in Tulsa can claim. Houston's culture is now in alignment, and we are seeing the positive results. While our average tenure in Houston is 2 years and progressing, our average tenure in Tulsa is 8 years with several employees exceeding 10+years. Tenure at The Rowland Group far surpasses staffing industry averages; however, we strive to continually improve on all areas of our corporate culture.

Pros

I came to The Rowland Group almost four years ago and it was one of the best decisions that I could have made for my career, personal and professional development and my family. The Rowland Group strives to create a culture in which people are nurtured yet at the same time employees has the ability to be creative with their book of business. During my time I have been provided not only with financial growth but career growth and professional development as well. Additionally, the management team truly cares about their internal employees and invests in them. I have a great work/life balance and my happiness is truly important to the management team. Additionally, the company really walks the walk in regards to values and doing the right thing not only for internal employees but candidates and clients as well. I can't say enough about the company and the people; the tenure of our management and employees speaks for itself being in such a high turnover industry!
