Pros

Flexible working, working from home

Cons

Where do I start... when I first joined the company, we were heavily benefiting from everything moving online during the pandemic. Today everything is a mess, extremely poor leadership and direction and there seems to be no plans to be proactive about the current climate in the market. The Skills Network used to be a major player in the ed tech space but now I'm embarrassed to work there. Imagine an ed TECH company that still uses excel spreadsheets as trackers, "experienced" staff that still require serious training due to poor management, doesn't deliver any courses that the market demands and has an extremely dated LMS platform to top it all off. Ofsted have said time and time again that they want institutions to move away from online learning, the skills network response? Phase out all physical resources, make half the company redundant and focus entirely on online learning lol. Been at the company around a year and in this time I have personally seen 16 people resign from one department alone, numerous people made redundant and even staff resigning after only working here weeks. My advice for any of us still working here is to start applying for other jobs!

Thank you for your feedback. It’s always a cause for concern and also opportunity when a business receives feedback about how people feel about working with you that suggests their experience falls short of what we are striving for. We are going through significant change and transformation here at TSN and this means that some tough decisions have been made and communicated. We’re doing lots to develop our employer brand and experience and conduct quarterly surveys to get direct feedback from our colleagues. Of course, important is to act on that feedback and we have been able to make some real positive changes as a result. Any colleague who feels that they are not being listened to should raise this with their senior department manager or member of the Executive Team. If we need to make a change we will aim to, if we can’t then we can explain why something may not be possible. We’re investing significantly in leadership and management development too and learning opportunities for everyone. There is opportunity for every colleague to learn and develop and we facilitate this through several channels, including our Aspiring Managers programme. The People Team work hard to ensure every colleague has a voice and feels valued within the organisation. If you would like a further discussion on the points you have raised above, please contact a member of the team.

Pros

Working from home/flexibility Genuinely can’t think of another pro

Cons

Staff/Management are TOXIC If you value your mental health DO NOT WORK HERE Oh also, if you suffer with any illness that can’t be helped such as migraines, be aware this will be used against you!! Heartless management who pretend to care but they will slate you off in a heartbeat No bonus (it got taken off us) Full of empty promises, if you want to try work up the ladder in the company, think again!! HR also side up with the management so if you have a bad experience with management, there’s no point putting a grievance in, they’ll just laugh and move on
