Tons of opportunities to chase stories and hone reporting skills. Interns are given a lot of responsibility and assumed to have a high competence level. Journalists in DC office are excellent and great mentors.
Cons
Some administrative work, but that's to be expected. Internships are not extended beyond their one semester term
- Great atmosphere and collaboration ethic in internal teams
- Pays a good salary compared to competitor/industry standards
Cons
- Lots of red tape / approval needed to get things moving
- They don't promote based on performance, just availability. So you would have to wait for your manager to be promoted or move elsewhere.
